Sure, it sort of looks like a boat, but that is kind of the point. Rolls Royce is basically the top of the mark for automotive luxury, there just isn’t anything better. But one Rolls customer looked at the line up & thought to himself, no, these will just not do. So in 2013 this customer approached the car company to make a one off car just for him, & they did.
The Rolls Royce Sweptail was inspired for this customers love of one off items like super yachts & private aircraft, which explains the boat like look of car. Other news sources are reporting that the car costs $12.8 million, and that it is the most expensive new car ever made. However, we don’t have enough proof to confirm or reject that information. This 2 seater Rolls was also inspired by the coach-built cars of the 20’s and 30’s as well as the 1925 Phantom I Round Door.
The Sweptail also has a few secrets (that we know of). Concealed in the walls just behind the doors are 2 identical cases which will deploy forward when activated. They are made from carbon fiber and wrapped in leather. They can house the clients laptop and other personal belongings. These cases match the luggage which is housed in the trunk of the car. There is no mention of umbrellas, however the center console does house the customers favorite bottle of champagne, the year of his birth, and 2 crystal champagne flutes.
