The Civic Type R Is The Fastest FWD Production Car Around The Nürburgring

So, why does that matter? Does it matter? Is it the same thing as being the fastest person with 8 toes at a marathon? Even though some people think it’s kind of pointless, i still think it’s really cool.

So you might not buy a Honda Civic Type R, & if you do, you’re almost certainty not taking it around Nürburgring. As such, you might not think this “news” is relevant do your daily life, and you would be right. However, i took a look at some of the cars that the Civic R beat around the track & and that made everything a bit more impressive. Here’s a few:
1: 2002 Pagani Zonda C12 S
2: 2009 Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI
3:2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera
4: 2015 BMW M4
The full list is HERE.
There’s more you need to know. Honda didn’t just pull a Civic Type R off the Assembly line & put it around the track. This was a pre-production development car that Honda says is “technically representative of production specification.” There was a roll cage inside but Honda says that it did not add rigidity to the body frame. To compensate for the frame weight, the rear seats were removed. Also, they used street legal “track-focused” tires.
If you happen to be in search for a FWD car that can go around the Nürburgring faster than any other car, this is all amazing news for you! Want even more? There’s a video of this record breaking run HERE.
