No, it’s not the M4 GTS, it’s the all new M4 CS, and they will cost about $125,000 in the USA! So what do you get for nearly $58k more over the standard M4, and just $8k less than the GTS?
The BMW M4 CS uses a 3.0 liter inline 6 cylinder twin turbo engine cranking out 454 horsepower and 442 foot pounds of torque. That’s enough to get the M4 CS from 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, which is exactly 0 seconds faster than Car and Driver’s M4 with Competition package. A car that costs considerably less. But 0-60 times aren’t all that matters right? If you thought so you’d probably have your eyes set on a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Speaking about cars only available in automatic…
Want one in manual? Too bad, it’s only available in automatic. Though, it is a 7 speed dual clutch automatic which should be super responsive. And the suspension is mostly unchanged, as per BMW “The suspension of the first ever BMW M4 CS largely mirrors that of the M4 with Competition Package.”
The M4 CS looks cool, will be very quick, should handle well & overall will probably be an absolute joy to drive. But will it be worth the cost? $125,000 is a big price tag, especially when I feel like the car will be closer to the M4 with Competition Package in features yet nearer to the M4 GTS in price. Hopefully we can get a hold of one soon to find out.
